STG begins construction for the USFWS laboratory dedicated to crimes against wildlife

STG Pacific was awarded a prime contract to build a new annex to the Morphology Center for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS).  Our scope involves VE and construction of a two-story, 14,500 sf building adjacent to the existing Forensics Laboratory in Ashland, Oregon. The building addition is a specialty use facility with two main purposes: 1) the storage of wildlife morphological specimens representing threatened and endangered animals worldwide; and 2) FWS employee workspace. The Morphology Center is the only such lab in the world dedicated to crimes against wildlife.

STG Pacific broke ground on the project on September 25. Routing and integration of utilities was a first priority, followed by civil site work and underground utility installation, including a 6” fire water supply line. Concrete work is scheduled for completion in December 2018, with structural steel erection beginning January 2019.
